I’ve got four pieces of news to share with you for this month. Without further ado, let’s look at them.

NQ Comedy Showcase

NAFA, the North Australian Festival of the Arts, is always a big deal here in Townsville. For a few weeks there’s all kinds of art all over the city and a cavalcade of performances and shows that feature artists and comedians from all over the country.

I’ve been lucky enough to participate in a couple of these, and they’ve been an amazing experience. I’m in the NQ Comedy Showcase again this year, which features lots of homegrown comic talent all doing our best to put on a great show under the bigtop at The Strand.

The date is the 10th of this month, this Thursday (ignore the poster on the left which mistakenly says a different date). The Facebook event is HERE and the link to get your tickets is HERE.

Comedy at Fresno

Every month there’s a wonderful night of comedy at the Fresno Espresso and Bar and I’ haven’t missed one yet. They’re intimate fun nights at a small venue that serves amazing beverages and food.

This month the festivities are on Saturday the 19th and if it’s anything like the last couple, it will be a highlight of my month.

Finally There’s A Mailing List

Over two years ago I detailed the pitfalls of letting social media platforms manage the way you communicate with your fans. I recommended starting an email list, but I never got around to setting up one myself. Until now.

I hate spam as much as anyone. Those of you who’ve been coming here for a while will notice that I don’t use my site to flog merchandise, plug my tours or treat you like a consumer in an ecommerce funnel.

I’ve always tried to make my site all about offering value to comedians and people interested in comedy. That’s not going to change, and my promise to you is that if you trust me with your email address I’ll treat it with respect. I have no desire or intention to clog up anyone’s inbox.

I’m Writing A Book

I can finally give you the exciting news that I signed a publishing contract and am releasing a book about the craft and philosophy of this whole stand-up thing.

Planned release is at the end of the year and his means I’m pushing against some pretty serious deadlines to get it finished. I’m thrilled with it so far and have to constantly resist the urge to keep adding to it. And yes, if I’ve been quiet here for a while, that’s why!

I highly doubt this is going to be any kind of bestseller, but you know it’s something I’m passionate about and feel I have something special to offer with.
