I always get excited when Jacques Barrett comes up to NQ. He’s one of my favourite Aussie comedians, and getting to open for him is among my proudest moments as a comic.

And he’s coming for the North Australia Festival of the Arts, the Townsville Fringe Festival, with a new show that I’m keen to see and you probably will be too.

You Woke the Bear!

Everywhere you look, it’s The Left vs Right, Millennials vs Boomers, The Toodlepips v The Buzzqweefs. All these groups at each other’s throats, everyone yelling and no one listening, It’s such a crapshoot out there… but perhaps Jacques can help.

He done gone don’t got all the answers, but he does have over a decade’s experience performing out there where the rubber meets the road: Cruise ships, Rissoles…. the real Straya. He’s had plenty of success bringing stoic, working class heroes around to relatively “woke” concepts with his little jokey jokes.

If he can convince his 75 yr old corn-fed, chicken salt of the earth dad that Bitcoin has value, I reckon he can probably end this silly lil’ culture war between the Left and the Right.

So come down, have an alcohol, and enjoy yet another meticulously written hour-long show in which Jacques changes comedy forever.
